Here at Griffins Motor Company, we're proud of the American heritage of Chrysler, one of our favorite automakers in the world. The brand is intrinsically linked to Detroit, its city of origin and where it's still headquartered, and does its best to give back to the community whenever possible. This year, Chrysler became involved in a new, highly encouraging project to support youth literacy in the Motor City.
The undertaking is called "Meet Up and Eat Up," as is also being supported by the United Way and Scholastic. Through this program, 150,000 new books will be donated throughout the area at designed events, which seek to bolster youth reading rates, and also help kids get a good, nutritious meal every day during their summer vacation when school is out.
"Donating these books is a part of Chrysler brand's mission to drive early education," says the President and CEO of Chrysler Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, Saad Chehab. "We hope the distribution of these books inspires children's imaginations and helps to provide them with some of the necessary tools they'll need to achieve a limitless future."1
This is an incredible encouraging project, and we truly hope many of the youth who are involved gain a passion for reading and become aware of the necessity and value of good reading skills and an education.
